Rematriation Tuition is our way of offering no-cost enrollment for Indigenous families, in recognition of the fact that our programs take place on lands that were taken from Indigenous Peoples.
This offering is not financial aid or charity—it is a small act of reparative justice and an expression of our commitment to right relationship with the land and its original stewards.
We use the term rematriation instead of “repatriation” to honor the Indigenous worldview that sees land not as property, but as Mother—a living relative. To rematriate is to return land, access, and relationship to Indigenous peoples in a way that restores connection and sovereignty.
In this way, Merrohawke's Rematriation Tuition seeks to return Indigenous children to the land and local waters in our region of coastal Massachusetts.
This offering is available to members of Native American tribal families Indigenous to Turtle Island.
