Afterschool ~ Raccoon Club & Wildlings

Let’s go out and PLAY!  Merrohawke’s afterschool programs take full advantage of time spent in nature to build our awareness of the natural world, as we witness the changing landscape across diverse habitats.

Merrohawke’s outdoor afterschool programs serve to bring youth back to the wild to understand and connect with nature, themselves and their community.

Together we’ll explore 30 forested acres by:

  • tracking wildlife
  • learning plant and bird identification
  • making wildcrafts, like cordage
  • developing primitive skills, including fire by friction
  • building shelters and forts
  • singing & music
  • playing nature awareness games.

With nature as our teacher, youth will learn:

  • self-care & care of others
  • quiet mind & patience
  • cooperation
  • empathy & embracing differences
  • detecting patterns & tracking changes
  • supportive leadership and resilience.

Wednesday Raccoon Club serves youth ages 6-9. Monday Wildings serves youth ages 9-12+.
